Date: 20 Apr 2026
Location: Regional, VIC, AU
Company: DEECA
In this role, you will provide technical support for the development of novel software tools, databases and processes to realise the Partnership’s objectives. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team that generates and integrates genotypic, phenotypic and other genebank‑related data. Key responsibilities include administering servers, installing and migrating databases and software, and designing and implementing software code under the supervision and support of senior team members. You will contribute to the development of Genolink (https://genolink.plantinformatics.io), an online middleware application that connects passport data from global genebanks to genotype data.
You will be highly motivated and have experience developing modern web applications using Node.js and frameworks such as React.js and Next.js, including integrating external APIs and data services into front‑end interfaces. You will also have experience designing and implementing middleware/back‑end services that aggregate and/or transform data from multiple APIs and database sources. You will bring demonstrated experience architecting and deploying scalable, public‑facing web applications in cloud environments including authentication, caching and performance optimisation. You will have strong interpersonal, organisational and communication skills (verbal and written) and work effectively within a multi‑disciplinary team environment.

- Strong ability to communicate and collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams (e.g. software engineers, data managers, bioinformaticians, researchers), including national and international partners, with demonstrated skills in task management, documentation and delivering development milestones on schedule.
- Desirable: Familiarity with genebank domain data (e.g. passport data, genotype data, accessions) and understanding of how such data is typically stored, standardised, and exposed via APIs.
