Contracts and Procurement Coordinator

This position is responsible for the management of contract and procurement activities to support the Office of the Deputy Secretary Division of the Agriculture Victoria Group across multiple disciplines including essential services, routine services, minor repairs or replacements of assets, and the facility management system to manage services.
The position plays a vital role in ensuring that processes meet compliance and statutory obligations, expenditure is within agreed budget, and quality reports are provided on a regular basis to management.
The Contracts and Procurement Officer will liaise with contractors, suppliers, facilities and project and contract management staff, internal and external stakeholders to ensure outcomes and expectations are met.
The position requires a motivated self-starter who is able to build and maintain good working relationships with staff across the department, as well as manage several programs of work through to successful completion.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Diploma in Contracts and Procurement, or an equivalent qualification is desirable, although not mandatory.
- Demonstrated experience and attention to detail in the management of Service procurement’s, Specifications and Tender advice and support preferably in a government context (State).
- Understanding of Contract Management and onboarding requirements and procurement principles - OHS requirements and department policy for managing suppliers on AgVic sites.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team to achieve competing priorities within tight timeframes.
- Well-developed conceptual and problem-solving skills combined with an attention to detail and the ability to generate a range of innovative solutions to address issues.
- Highly developed communication skills, including writing, presentational and interpersonal skills to liaise and consult effectively at all levels and in a range of business environments. The ability to negotiate effectively, resolve complex issues and build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is Flexible within Victoria at Agriculture Victoria Location with hybrid work arrangements available.
