The Assessor, Resources Projects is responsible for assessing and making recommendations on applications for mining, quarrying, petroleum, geothermal and other earth resources activities across Victoria. The Assessor provides technical, regulatory and operational policy guidance to co-regulators, recommending proposed outcomes for complex applications, and monitors the quality of delivery against service standards, initiating improvements as required.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in a similar regulatory function, preferably in the earth resources industry, with firsthand knowledge of risk management, regulation and/or technical report writing.
- Ability to prioritise own workload effectively, coupled with experience in developing and monitoring systems and procedures to guide work and track progress.
- Understanding of risk management principles and experience in the development and assessment of risk management plans, with an ability to make sound outcome-based judgments based on evidence and risk.
- An eye for detail and experience in following complex procedures and work instructions in a systematic way using customer relationship management and document management systems.
- A tertiary qualification in environmental science, engineering, earth science, natural resources, or other relevant discipline would be advantageous.
This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
