This is a great opportunity for those looking to develop their skills and experience building infrastructure as code in an AWS Cloud environment. This role offers opportunities to learn about spatial systems and gain experience integrating them through API development.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications 

Mandatory

  • A relevant tertiary degree or industry recognised qualification in Information Systems (or similar)
  • Demonstrated experience developing software using Python, including adherence to coding standards, testing practices, and maintainable code design.
  • Proven experience using version control systems, such as Git, including branching strategies, pull requests, and collaborative workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience and certification in AWS architecture, development, deployment, and operations, including handson use of core AWS services, security best practices, and cloudnative application design.

Desirable

  • Experience working in an ITIL environment
  • Experience with Agile development framework
  • Hands-on experience with spatial databases, such as PostGIS, Amazon Aurora/PostgreSQL.
  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs, including authentication and integration patterns.
  • Experience with AWS infrastructure-as-code, especially CloudFormation, CDK.
  • Experience building and deploying containerised applications (e.g., Docker, ECS).
  • Experience with logging, monitoring, and debugging cloud applications.
  • Experience creating automated data pipelines, including ETL/ELT (e.g., AWS Lambda, Step Functions).
  • Experience working with Geospatial Information Systems in a cloud environment
  • Familiarity with geospatial data formats and standards, such as GeoJSON, WMS/WFS, vector/raster tiles, and OGC API standards.
  • Experience developing or maintaining web-based user interfaces

This is a fixed term position available for a period of 12 months. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
