The Software Engineer will develop and enhance application functionality for a range of software systems, including critical emergency management systems that are used across Victoria, supporting forest management and incident management teams, front line firefighters and volunteers to keep the community safe.
This is fixed-term role within the Radio and Aviation Technology Unit, a multi-disciplinary team that is responsible for the development, maintenance and provision of information systems, state radio communications operations and associated aviation services that meet the requirements of the Forest, Fire and Regions Group and partner agencies.
In addition, the successful candidate will be able to:
- Write code in .NET (C#), Angular & SQL in Azure to implement user stories.
- Work as part of an agile team and autonomously to implement system functionality across the full application technology stack.
- Coach and develop other team members.
- Collaborate with the broader organisation.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
Essential:
- Strong development background in .Net Core, C#, Entity Framework Core and SQL, development and ingestion of REST APIs
- Experience developing with Angular 9+
- Experience in source control tools (e.g. Git, GitHub) and practices (e.g. GitHub Flow), or similar
Desirable:
- Experience in Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) strategies and software, particularly Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions (or similar), in the context of working within an agile software application development team
- Experience with developing .NET Windows desktop applications using C#.
- Experience with Python
Nice to have:
- Experience in cloud infrastructure (Azure or AWS) including Azure Functions, App Services, Blob Storage, Event Hubs, Azure Data Factory, Azure Service Bus, and other Azure technologies (or their AWS equivalent)
This is a fixed term position available for a period of 24 months. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
