Senior Software Engineer

You are passionate about web apps and are someone who can see the big picture, while having mastery of details. You are a self-starter, an excellent communicator, and you love taking initiative and pioneering new and creative ideas. You are confident and comfortable working with ambiguity and uncertainty. This is a technical role and while we don’t expect you to have experience with our entire technology stack, the successful candidate will have extensive development experience with our core systems and a general enthusiasm for our development environment:  

• Backend services running in C# on a mixture of Azure Functions and Docker containers, frontend interfaces written in Typescript, primarily Angular 16+. We care about writing maintainable code that conforms to our coding standards. 

• Our cloud computing environment is Azure and we are increasingly moving to cloud native tooling. We’re excited about Serverless (in the form of Azure Functions) and use Cosmos DB or Data Lake Storage, and to maintain decoupled yet responsive applications we implement Service Bus and Event Hubs. 

• Version control is maintained through GitHub. We like small PRs which can easily be reviewed! 

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

• Strong demonstrable experience developing in Angular 9+ using TypeScript.
• Experience in .Net Core, C#, Entity Framework Core, Azure SQL, REST APIs.
• Experience in cloud infrastructure (Azure or AWS) specifically Azure Functions, App Services, Azure Service Bus and Blob Storage (or their AWS equivalent)
• Experience with HTML, Sass, Bootstrap, and modern frontend build tools (Webpack, ESLint, Prettier, etc.)
• Experience in source control tools (e.g., Git and GitHub) and practices (e.g. GitHub Flow), or similar.

Highly Desirable

• Experience in serverless, microservices and event-driven architectures
• Familiarity with GIS and mapping technologies (ArcGIS or PostGIS, Leaflet library or similar)

This is a fixed term position available until 29 April 2028. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne / flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
