Senior Project and Engagement Officer

Date: 7 Aug 2026

Location: Melbourne, VIC, AU

Company: DEECA

The Senior Project and Engagement Officer will play a key role in preparing for the implementation of proposed amendments to Victoria’s biosecurity legislation. The focus of the role is on laying the groundwork for successful implementation by coordinating internal education, leading stakeholder engagement, and developing or overseeing the development of supporting materials.

Working closely with policy and operational teams, the successful applicant will conduct a stocktake of existing resources, identify key gaps, and coordinate or commission the development of guidance, factsheets and other communication tools to support understanding across internal and external audiences. They will also plan and deliver internal consultation and education sessions, particularly on the General Biosecurity Duty (GBD), to help teams identify and prioritise high-risk activities for potential regulatory oversight, with consideration of resource constraints. The role will support whole-of-government coordination by identifying intersections with other legislation and working through related policy implications and will contribute to broader stakeholder engagement activities aligned with the proposals and ongoing biosecurity reforms.

This role requires a proactive and organised individual with strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, a sound understanding of legislative frameworks, and the ability to translate complex policy into practical, accessible materials.
