The Innovation and Sector Development team in the Energy Group leads initiatives that grow Victoria’s broader energy sector, from research and manufacturing to deployment and recycling, to help build a reliable, affordable and sustainable energy system. The Senior Policy Officer will develop place‑based policies that drive economic growth and industrial decarbonisation via the energy transition, including through renewable energy industrial precincts. The role will design strategic governance and engagement approaches across industry, governments, Traditional Owners and First Peoples to deliver integrated, forward‑looking policy. The role also contributes to supply‑chain insights, innovation programs and investment materials. This is an opportunity to influence complex policy, collaborate across government and help position Victoria as a leader in renewable energy.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the energy sector and stakeholder engagement best practice is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Government processes and operations and systems is desirable.
  • An appropriate tertiary qualification/s with a renewable energy / commercial focus is desirable.

This is a fixed term position available until 29 February 2028. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
