The Senior HR & Payroll Officer plays a key role in leading a small team responsible for delivering high quality, customer-focused HR and payroll services across the Department. Reporting to the Team Leader, HR & Payroll Operations, you will support the employee lifecycle through the delivery of timely and accurate HR and payroll operational services.
In this role, you will provide expert advice and operational support across a range of HR and payroll functions including onboarding, employee data management, payroll processing, leave management, employee variations, performance management and offboarding activities. You will also contribute to maintaining payroll integrity, ensuring compliance obligations are met, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across HR and payroll operations.
Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the Department, you will help drive service excellence, support operational projects and contribute to building an inclusive, high-performing and customer-centric workplace culture.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Good working knowledge of Victorian Public Service (VPS) Human Resource policy frameworks and relevant Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (EBAs).
- Demonstrated experience managing and supporting the delivery of high quality, customer-centric HR and payroll services in complex and/or changing environments.
- Strong understanding of payroll processes, employee lifecycle administration and data integrity requirements.
- Proven ability to provide responsive advice and resolve HR and payroll related issues effectively.
- Experience leading or mentoring staff within a collaborative team environment.
This is a fixed term position available for a period until 4 June 2027. The work location for this position is Flexible between Lonsdale Street or within a major regional DEECA office with hybrid work arrangements available.
