The Senior Forest and Fire Operations Officer - Field Assessor is a leading field operational role responsible for undertaking field-based assessments and work site feasibility checks, providing on-site supervision of operational contractors, and contributing operational input to support district planning and delivery of forest and fire management works. At times the role is required to lead other field staff to facilitate safe and effective field work and will be expected to engage across both the District Tactical Planning and Operations teams to coordinate this.

At the direction of the District Operations Manager, the role will at times be deployed to the delivery of regular field-based duties in order to support operational crews, and to maintain technical skills and knowledge required to be effective in the role.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience delivering and assisting with the planning of works for the implementation of Forest and Fire Operations Division responsibilities and standards for forest management, road management, fuel management & emergency preparedness and response programs.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering field operations as part of works program implementation of Forest and Fire Operations Division works delivery, supervision of other staff and stakeholder interaction.

This position is ongoing, available in the regional location of Irymple, Victoria.
