Senior Communications and Engagement Advisor

The Senior Communications and Engagement Advisor is responsible for the development and implementation of communications strategies and activities to support Recycling Victorias programs and services.
Your accountabilities include but are not limited too

  • Work with the Senior Manager Communications and Engagement to develop, implement and evaluate communications and stakeholder engagement plans and drive effective and innovative campaigns and projects to support organisational objectives. 
  • Develop and deliver high quality communications materials including publications, reports, online content, media releases, articles and other promotional materials in support of Recycling Victoria's objectives. 
  • Work closely with senior staff to identify priority projects and emerging issues and provide strategic communications advice and assistance on management of issues, opportunities and risks. 
  • Work with portfolio and ministerial colleagues to provide strategic advice on waste and resource recovery issues and support communications projects, campaigns and activities. 
  • Manage staff by establishing a positive work environment, motivating people and developing staff knowledge and capabilities.
  • To practice cultural safety by creating environments, relationships and systems free from racism and discrimination so that people can feel safe, valued and able to participate.

From the 30 June 2026 Recycling Victoria will be transitioning to the EPA.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Formal qualifications in communications related discipline. 
  • Extensive experience in communications and engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic communications, media relations, issues management, digital communications and publication management.

This is a part-time (0.8 FTE) fixed term position available until 31/12/2026. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
