The Senior Analyst, Forecasting and Modelling, is a specialist role within the Fiscal Management and Funds team is critical for the delivery of fiscal sustainability, cost modelling and forecast analysis. The Senior Analyst, Forecasting, is a critical role responsible for developing, analysing and maintaining financial forecasts models. The role will work closely with all stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and relevance of the financial projections by analysing mitigation actions for the budget pressure and providing required advice. This role will perform development and provision of strategic cost modelling analysis and budgeting advice to senior management to support financial integrity and efficient forecasting for the department’s fiscal position.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in cost modelling, budget forecasting and analysis on strategies and risk mitigation.
  • Experience in high-quality financial analysis, accurate and timely financial reporting to support executive decision making and government reporting.
  • Deep understanding of, and practical experience applying, the Financial Management Act 1994 and the Resource Management Framework to support informed decision-making and promote best-practice financial management.
  • A qualification in accounting, finance or commerce an advantage.

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is Melbourne CBD with hybrid work arrangements available.
