Project Officer - Regional Waterway Programs

This position is responsible for supporting the delivery of projects and initiatives that implement the Victorian Waterway Management Strategy and related statewide waterway policies. The role contributes to the planning, coordination and delivery of priority projects, programs, tools and guidance that support the protection, management and improvement of Victoria’s waterways. Working closely with catchment management authorities, Melbourne Water, Traditional Owners and other stakeholders, the position facilitates the implementation of policy initiatives and strategic priorities across Victoria. The role also supports statewide coordination of Ramsar site management and the delivery of Victoria’s obligations under the Ramsar Convention. The successful applicant will possess well-developed stakeholder engagement and project management skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships, manage competing priorities and contribute to the successful delivery of complex projects and programs.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- An appropriate qualification in science, natural resource management, environmental management, social science or relevant equivalent is desirable.
- Experience working in the fields of water, catchment, natural resource or environmental management is highly regarded.
- Experience working in the public sector, such as within government agencies or statutory authorities is highly regarded.
This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is 8 Nicolson Street East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
