Please note: this fixed-term role is a maternity leave backfill for approximately 12-months.
This role provides the opportunity to design and develop robust and consumer-centric reforms to Victoria’s retail energy market to make energy accessible, fair and affordable for all customers. Working within a flexible, supportive and collaborative team and branch, the successful candidate will manage and lead workstreams to provide authoritative, clear and timely advice on policy and implementation options for energy retail and consumer protection matters and reforms, and will provide support and guidance to team members in their delivery of transformative policy advice and reforms. The successful candidate will also develop and prepare high-quality written documentation, including briefings, correspondence, submissions, presentations and reports for a range of audiences including the Minister and departmental executives, and support team members to do the same. The ability to work collaboratively, and maintain effective relationships, with internal and external stakeholders to inform policy development and implementation of reforms to support transparency, consumer protections, affordability and a fair energy transition is also required.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification/s in law or economics is highly desirable.
- Strong experience with Government processes and operations in policy development and reform implementation is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of, or experience with, the energy sector (particularly the electricity and gas retail markets and regulatory frameworks) is desirable.
This is a fixed term position available until 10 January 2027. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
