The Policy Officer contributes to the development of high quality, proactive policy advice, working within a team to develop and implement policy reviews and recommendations that will contribute to the design and continuous improvement of the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program.  

The role will require a diverse range of skills, including the ability to research energy efficient technologies, the ability to support the development of policy options, and the ability to prepare documents to support the outline of those options.

The role will work closely with stakeholders and within cross organisational working groups to support effective information sharing, and consideration of data, insights, trends, forecasting and modelling in order to provide sound policy advice. 

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

Mandatory:

  • Excellent written communication skills and high attention to detail.

Desirable:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification such as law, environmental policy, energy efficiency, environmental or energy economics or econometrics, engineering or science.
  • Knowledge of and experience working in energy policy, fiscal policy or climate change policy.

There is one ongoing position available within the Energy Efficiency Technologies team, and one fixed term (31/12/26) position within the Demand-Side Policy team. The successful candidate can select a base of either our Melbourne or Morwell office, hybrid work arrangements are also available.
