As a Policy Officer in DEECA’s Energy Safety Team, you’ll contribute to policy development, changes to legislation and government governance processes.

What you’ll do

  • Support energy safety policy projects through research, analysis and stakeholder engagement.
  • Draft briefings, submissions, correspondence and reports.
  • Provide timely policy and governance advice across government.
  • Build productive relationships with regulators, industry and emergency agencies.

About you

  • Applied research, analytical and policy development skills.
  • Experience interpreting legislation, policy or technical information (energy sector ideal).
  • Clear and concise written communication skills.
  • Collaborative and proactive team contributor.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in interpreting and analysing environmental legislation, policy and technical information would be desirable
  • Understanding of the Victorian energy sector including the frameworks governing electricity, solar and gas networks would be desirable
  • An appropriate tertiary qualification for working in environmental management, public policy and/or governance would be desirable

This is a fixed term position available until 12 November 2027. The work location for this position is Melbourne CBD with hybrid work arrangements available.
