Operations Systems Support

Date: 9 Oct 2026

Location: Melbourne, VIC, AU

Company: DEECA

Do you like solving puzzles? Ours just happen to involve technology.

We’re looking for a technically curious problem solver to join our Operations Systems Team, helping keep critical operational systems available, reliable and ready when they’re needed.

This is a hands-on technical role for someone who enjoys investigating problems, monitoring systems, working with data and figuring out why something that worked perfectly yesterday has suddenly decided otherwise.

Our systems support everyday operations as well as emergency management activities, so when things get busy, being able to stay calm, think technically and work methodically matters.

What might land on your desk?

On any given day, you could be:

  • 🔎 Playing system detective, investigating faults, alerts, performance issues and unexpected system behaviour.
  • 🖥️ Keeping systems healthy, monitoring availability, performance and operational readiness.
  • 🛠️ Troubleshooting incidents, following the technical clues through to resolution or escalation.
  • 📊 Digging into the data, using reports and scripts to identify anomalies, investigate data integrity issues and work with developers on lasting solutions.
  • 🚀 Making our systems better, working with business users, developers and project teams on enhancements and providing technical advice to ensure changes integrate effectively with existing and upcoming applications.
  • 🤝 Working with vendors and technical specialists to resolve complex issues and support maintenance, upgrades and system changes.
  • 📝 Capturing what we learn, keeping technical documentation current because solving the same mystery twice isn’t nearly as satisfying.
  • 🚨 Stepping up when it matters, providing technical systems support during emergency management operations and periods of heightened activity, including after-hours or surge support when required.

What are we looking for?

You don’t need to know every system from day one. What matters is having strong technical foundations, curiosity and the ability to work through a problem logically.

We’re particularly interested in your ability to:

  • diagnose and troubleshoot application and system issues
  • monitor system health, performance and availability
  • analyse system behaviour, logs, alerts and technical information to isolate problems
  • understand system dependencies, integrations and when specialist support is required
  • use data, reports and scripts to identify anomalies and maintain data integrity
  • identify the root cause of recurring technical or data issues and work with developers on solutions that prevent them happening again
  • support releases, upgrades, maintenance, testing and implementation
  • continually identify opportunities to improve systems and how they are supported
  • communicate technical information in a way that business owners and non-technical people can understand
  • stay calm, methodical and solutions-focused when things get busy.

Experience in application support, system monitoring, incident and problem management, data analysis or scripting, enterprise technology platforms or operational systems would be highly regarded.

Sound like you?

When something isn’t working, you want to know why, not just how to get it working again.

You see a piece of data that doesn’t look quite right and feel compelled to investigate it.

You naturally ask “what changed?”, “what else does this affect?” and “how do we stop it happening again?”

You enjoy turning recurring problems into permanent improvements and get an unreasonable amount of satisfaction from finally solving a stubborn technical issue.

And while turning it off and on again occasionally has its place, you’d still quite like to know why it fixed it.

If you’re technically curious, enjoy troubleshooting, like getting into the detail and want to put your problem-solving skills to work supporting systems that genuinely matter, we’d like to hear from you.
