This is a unique opportunity to influence some of DEECA's most important strategic priorities while leading a capable team of policy and project professionals working across environment, climate action, energy, water, agriculture, resources and corporate issues.

About the role

  • Lead short- to medium-term projects that help position the department to respond to emerging issues and government priorities.
  • Contribute to branch leadership, workforce capability and a positive, high-performing culture.

About you

You are a strategic thinker who enjoys working on complex problems and can quickly understand the broader policy, political and organisational context.

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex policy, reform, strategy or project work in government or a similarly complex environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, persuasive and influential advice.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience leading and developing teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Strong judgement and an ability to navigate ambiguity, competing priorities and sensitive issues.
  • A proven ability to build collaboration across organisational boundaries and influence outcomes at senior levels.
  • A strong understanding of government decision-making processes and the broader public sector environment.
