Legal Operations Business Analyst

The Legal Operations Business Analyst partners closely with stakeholders in the Legal and Legislation Division and broader teams across the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), where relevant, supporting high quality business analysis to drive outcomes for the Legal Operations portfolio of BAU and strategic initiatives. The role focuses on the successful delivery of key Legal Operations initiatives through defining business problems via in depth investigation and gathering of requirements, documenting solutions, process mapping and stakeholder liaison.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst on technology-led projects within complex, multi-stakeholder environments (essential), preferably in government or inhouse legal services environment. A successful track record supporting procurement and implementation of complex system or platform transformations highly desirable.
- Mature facilitation and user-focused stakeholder engagement skills, with proven ability to gather, clarify, analyse, validate and document requirements across diverse business domains, using a range of techniques (e.g., workshops, interviews, process mapping).
- Experience documenting user stories, acceptance criteria, and business rules in digital collaboration tools.
- Strong understanding and application of Agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban) and practical experience working within cross-functional Agile teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and convey complex concepts clearly in plain language to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficient in process mapping (As-Is and To-Be) and using visualisation tools to support solution design and business improvement.
- Analytical and detail-oriented, with a solution-focused approach to problem-solving and issue resolution, and demonstrated ability to synthesise complex information to develop practical, user-centred solutions.
This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is Melbourne CBD with hybrid work arrangements available.
