As an Intelligence Officer, you will play an important role within Agriculture Victoria’s Regulatory Operations branch in Biosecurity Victoria. Working with the Senior Intelligence Officer, you will help gather, assess and analyse information, and prepare clear, practical intelligence products that support day‑to‑day operations. Your work will contribute to informed decision‑making, assist investigations and provide timely briefings to authorised officers, helping teams focus on the areas of greatest risk.
You will work closely with colleagues across Agriculture Victoria, including scientific teams, regional and compliance staff, as well as partner agencies such as the Victorian Fisheries Authority, Victoria Police and the Conservation Regulator. The role also supports emergency preparedness and response activities and contributes to improving the way intelligence is gathered and shared. As part of a collaborative and flexible team, you will help protect Victoria’s biosecurity and market access, while enjoying flexible working arrangements and the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to public outcomes.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate field is highly desirable; a background in intelligence is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of the Victorian agricultural industries, issues affecting these industries and production is desirable.
- Experience and an aptitude for intelligence and analyst activities including forecasting, monitoring and trend assessment utilising a range of information and technologies within a sensitive and confidential environment.
- Ability to prepare intelligence products, briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language; ensures written communications contain necessary information to achieve their purpose.
- Seeks opportunities for continuous improvement and ways to innovate; Offers suggestions and ideas, encourages others to do the same; Leverages on existing continuous improvement systems and procedures to improve outcomes, quality and efficiency of work.
- Identifies and manages a range of complex and often competing needs; Takes steps to add value for the stakeholder; Links people with other areas as appropriate; Monitors stakeholder satisfaction; Constructively deals with stakeholder issues.

This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
