Instructional Design Officer - EM Sector Training and Capability

We are seeking an experienced Instructional Design Officer to join a high-performing project team delivering a multi-agency training pathway under the Emergency Management Sector Training and Capability Development Model. This role is central to designing contemporary, practical, and impactful learning experiences that support senior leaders across the sector.

In this role, you will:

  • Design and develop high-quality training materials, curriculum, and practical tools aligned to sector needs
  • Apply best practice adult learning principles to support operational readiness and leadership development
  • Translate lessons from program evaluations into improved, consistent, and inclusive learning resources
  • Support continuous improvement and sustainability of the multi-agency training pathway
  • Collaborate with internal teams and cross-sector stakeholders to ensure relevance and impact

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented professional with strong instructional design capability, a user-focused mindset, and the ability to translate complex operational requirements into engaging learning solutions. You will be adaptable, collaborative, and committed to delivering practical outcomes that strengthen emergency management capability.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the design and development of innovative learning products and experiences, both digital and physical, with experience using Articulate 360, is desirable.
  • A qualification in training design and development or in vocational education is desirable. As a minimum, applicants should hold the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent).

This is a fixed term/an ongoing position available for a period of 1 year. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, East Melbourne – Flexible with hybrid work arrangements available.
