Forest and Fire Program Officer – Recovery is responsible the onground delivery of the recovery program, guiding roading, recreation, biodiversity, forest health and other forest management activities. Forest and Fire Program Officer – Recovery  will undertake tactical level delivery of hazarous tree identification and treatment, rehabilitation, resoration of roading assets, and interface fenceline clearing and assessment. Forest and Fire Program Officer – Recovery will also engage with Districts, Traditional Owners and stakeholders on the delivery of recovery programs, adapting to reflect local needs and objectives within tactical plans. 

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in natural resources management, with a good knowledge of road maintenance and repair, and forest management.
  • An appropriate qualification in environmental science, natural resource management, or approved equivalent is desirable.
  • Knowledge of the capabilities of plant and equipment utilised in Roading and Crown land restoration works.
  • Successfully pass a DEECA fire-fighter medical and task-based assessment to the standard appropriate to the relevant fire role. (Mandatory)
  • Current manual Victorian drivers licence. (Mandatory)

This is a fixed term position until 30 June 2027. The work location for this position is Upper Murray District.
