Asset Manager - FFMVic Facilities

Lead the management of critical facilities and operational assets that keep Victoria's emergency management capability safe, reliable and ready.

The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action is seeking an Asset Manager - FFMVic Facilities to lead the management, optimisation and strategic planning of critical facilities and operational asset classes that support Forest Fire Management Victoria (FFMVic) and broader emergency management operations across Victoria. 

This is an opportunity to join a purpose-driven team responsible for ensuring key facilities and operational assets remain safe, compliant, reliable and ready to support both day-to-day business and emergency response activities. You will oversee a diverse portfolio including FFMVic depots, fire towers, base camps, cache facilities and related operational assets, working closely with regional staff, operational partners, contractors and industry stakeholders.

As an Asset Manager - FFMVic Facilities, you will play a key role in strengthening asset management practices across the organisation by developing asset class plans, driving lifecycle management strategies, monitoring asset performance, overseeing compliance obligations and leading a small team responsible for supporting operational readiness.

About the role

You will bring:

• demonstrated experience managing assets across their lifecycle, including maintenance, compliance, performance monitoring and optimisation
• successful project management and change management delivery experience
• the ability to develop, implement and govern AMAF-aligned asset class plans and supporting governance documentation 
• strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret performance, risk and financial data and provide practical recommendations to senior stakeholders 
• experience managing field-based assets and delivering operational outcomes in complex environments
• demonstrated capability in stakeholder engagement, contractor management and building productive industry relationships 
• leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop team members while fostering a culture of continuous improvement 
• relevant degree, diploma or trade qualification
• a current driver's licence and willingness to travel extensively across Victoria as required
• a forklift licence (LF), or willingness to obtain one if required.

This role may require physically demanding activities including heavy lifting, prolonged standing, field-based work and working in restricted or awkward environments. Regular travel throughout Victoria will be required, and the position may support emergency management operations during periods of heightened activity.
