Coastal Processes Science Officer

The Coastal Processes Science Officer will conduct data processing, science communication, work with stakeholders and suppliers to manage projects, and to develop knowledge outputs and communications from the Victorian Coastal Monitoring Program (VCMP). The role involves data quality control and assurance; processing of field data into data products; scientific reports and communications and occupational safety / risk management. Additional requirements include capacity to work independently, writing skills and experience in data management and analysis, in the field of coastal processes, earth and environmental science or engineering.
The role will help determine drivers of shoreline change across Victoria, to be used for decision making on coastal projects, policy and planning. The VCMP is a component of Victoria’s Marine and Coastal Knowledge Framework to deliver outcomes aligned with the Marine and Coastal Policy 2020 and the Marine and Coastal Strategy 2022.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Degree in science / engineering or related discipline, experience with coding (e.g., Python) and spatial analysis software (e.g., ArcGIS) preferred.
- Current and Valid Australian Driver’s License
- Experience in coastal processes monitoring, data analysis, and knowledge reporting/communications.
- Holds a Remote Pilot Licence (RePL).
This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
