The Biodiversity Assessment Officer (Energy) provides specialist biodiversity and land use planning advice for renewable energy projects. The role identifies, assesses and mitigates biodiversity risks inline with the relevant environmental and planning legislation. Working closely with responsible authorities including councils, Traditional Owners and other stakeholders, the position builds capability, ensures compliance with biodiversity regulations, and integrates biodiversity considerations into renewable energy planning and delivery.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- An appropriate tertiary qualification related to natural resource management, environmental or ecological sciences or similar and / or relevant experience is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to apply environmental and biodiversity assessment processes, focused on biodiversity risk management and mitigation, native vegetation policy, and related policy and legislation
This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is Flexible within Grampians and Barwon South West Regions with hybrid work arrangements available.
